Mark Blanton draws classical figures in classical settings with an overt sexually erotic flavour. All of his work can be viewed at  Satyronmania.

First, a little background. Where do you live and work?
I live and work near Houston, Texas in the US.
Where were you born?
I was born in Glendale, California near Los Angeles and moved away from there when I was still very young.

When did you discover you have a talent for art?
I can recall copying figures of nude statuary from the illustrations in a history of ancient Greece in my grandfather’s library when I was about five. I remember being puzzled about the use of the fig leaf and decided to remove them in my own drawings. My mother discovered what I was doing and took away my pencil and paper.

The number of post tags is increasing which is, I think, a good thing as it helps readers find posts/pix that they want.

As the tag list is now quite long, I have also put a tag cloud on a separate page. The link is on the navigation bar.

The tag cloud has larger font and is a little easier to browse. In time, if the tags keep increasing, I may have to remove the tag list from the sidebar and just keep the page.

However, for the time being, we have both.

Sandra Torralba is a Spanish photographer with an eye for the extreme and, sometimes, the poetically confronting. Her work is distinctive and eye catching.
I think she has a real talent and is a brilliant photographer. We had a little chat.

1. Sandra, you walked away from one career to focus on photography. What brought you to that decision and was it an easy decision to make?
Maybe if it had been in any other period of my life it would have been an impossible decision to make, but at the time it was not even a decision, it just happen naturally. As I finished my therapy masters dissertation and after many years working as a therapist I was beginning to feel heavy.
My partner and I had decided that once I had finished the MSc we would move back to Spain (after 4 years abroad) and I had to stick to this agreement. Continue reading »

Rick Lundeen illustrated the comic book Perfect Strangers, under the name Emil.

Perfect Strangers was born from a collaboration between Rick Lundeen  and myself. I am extremely proud of the end result and  am in awe of Rick’s talents.
Using my most persuasive skills *smile*, I managed to corner the busy Rick for a small conversation about his work and life. Continue reading »

1. Juan, thank you so much for giving some time to us. Could you give us a little background?

I was born in 1936 in Barcelona (Spain) and ever since I remember, Ihave loved comic publications.
Nothing has attracted my attention that to see drawings and to draw.
I always yearned to work as such, but it was not possible until reaching adult age, then in Spain it was fixed at 21 years. I had to face risks and family circumstances that were opposed but finally I decided to try.
To begin was very difficult, but I was lucky, a good friend helped me to debut and later that helped my situation. My technique at the beginning was faulty and cost me many days and effort obtaining the work was that worthy of a good professional. Continue reading »

World Cup Perving!

Not a big fan of sport! Sorry but that’s the way I am but I am, have discovered, quite a fan of a certain type of sportsman!

Used to enjoy perving on Olympic swimmers until they covered up in those ridiculous jump suits that make them look like fugitives from Star Trek. Swimmers have such good bodies, why do they cover them up?

Feel quite faint! O-my-god!

Now, it’s footballers! They have good bodies, athletic grace and such good hair that my first thought was they were all gay!

But…let’s face it, some of them are yummy.

As a card carrying bisexual, must give equal time to both genders and am sure there are pervable female sports but just haven’t found them yet.

Suppose I’ll just have to keep my perving to Scarlett Johanson…

You have probably noticed the sexy, thoughtful and, sometimes, funny comments Jackkat posts on many of the pictures.

Somehow, he captures the essence of the picture and creates a small story.

Some readers have thought (and commented in emails) that Jackkat is me!

As much as yours truly would like to take credit for his writing skills,  have to firmly declare that Jackkat is his own person! In other words, he is not me!

Jackkat has been reading my stories for more years than I would like to think of and has been a loyal reader and thoughtful critic.

There is no doubt, his comments add quite a deal to the blog and it’s time he got his own tag!

And a little song!

Thanks, Jack.
